Tastes of Italy

september 24 - october 4, 2017

What better way to savor Italy than with our sense of taste? A ten night journey for solo travelers highlighting food and wine of Rome, the Tuscany Region and Florence. In addition to stimulating our senses of taste and smell, we'll explore museums and masterpieces.  Here is a snapshot itinerary of this uniquely Italian experience.




sep 24

Arrive in Rome and transfer to Hotel Capo d'Africa for three nights. Meet your fellow solo travelers at our welcome dinner.


SEP 25

Excursion to Tivoli to visit the magnificent Villa d'Este Gardens and enjoy lunch at a local trattoria. The afternoon is free to explore, independently. Or, join an optional, private tour of Ancient Rome, including skip the line access to the Colosseum and Roman Forum.


SEP 26

In the morning we'll have a private Vatican tour, including Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica and Square. The afternoon is on our own and the evening includes a walking tour through Trastevere and dinner at a local home.

Sep 27

We'll have a private transfer from Rome to Tuscany, stopping in Orvieto for a walking tour of the town and lunch at a local winery.

The Borgo Scopeto Relais will be our home for the next four nights and we'll have dinner at the hotel our first evening.


sep 28

 A private walking tour of Siena this morning and then a cooking class with a Chianti chef and dinner.


sep 29

A full day-trip to San Gimignano and Monteriggioni with lunch at a saffron farm. Evening will be on our own.


Sep 30

Today we're off to Val d'Orcia and an organic cheese farm to experience cheese making. We'll also spend some time touring and tasting at a Brunello winery.

oct 1

Off to Florence for three nights at the Hotel Santa Maria Novella. After checking in, we'll head out for a walking tour, including food vendors and bites along the way. We'll also visit the Accademia Gallery, home to Michelangelo's David.


oct 2

Today a private tour of the Uffizi Gallery where many of the Renaissance masterpieces are housed.


oct 3

Our last, full day. We'll have a truffle and olive oil tour and say goodbye with a gourmet dinner prepared by a local chef.


Oct 4

Transfer to the Florence Airport. Arrivederci!
